You’ve heard of it, but you’re not really sure what on earth it is.

Becoming pregnant took a lot longer than I expected, but once it happened I realised most of my thoughts about birth were pretty negative. Taking time to think about where those thoughts had come from made me realise most were not my own - they were from films, TV, my family, other people’s experiences. It seemed natural to ask the question: how do I think and feel about birth?

I came across Hypnobirthing in preparation for the birth of my first daughter and now, as a Hypnobirthing Practitioner, I’m on a mission to guide women and their birth partners through this beautiful transition into parenthood using six simple techniques...

  1. Education...because we don’t just magically know everything about birth and our own preferences by becoming pregnant.

  2. Relaxation...because birthing is a mental, physical and spiritual quest and being relaxed allows our bodies to do what they need to do.

  3. Breathing...because you can’t give breath to new life if you’re not breathing yourself.

  4. Visualisation...because the mind is a powerful place and imagining a positive outcome creates a positive outcome.

  5. Self-Hypnosis...because we all have things deep in our sub-conscious that we need to clear out.

  6. Affirmations...because being purposeful and focused builds confidence and trust in ourselves.
