Navigate the Dutch healthcare system for your baby with confidence. This class covers the essentials of Kraamzorg, Consultatiebureau, and after-hours care, creating a safe home environment, preparing for visitors, and handling common newborn transitions and health concerns.

    Of course! Many parents start hanging with when they find our they are pregnant ;-)
  • Who hosts?
    Most of our events are hosted by local experts like doulas, therapists or postpartum educators.
  • What programming is included?
    Members have access to our mama hangs, as well as other ad hoc community events. Our educational workshops and classes are not included in memberships. However, as a member you'll receive regular discounts :-)
  • Who is this for?
    Parents with babies under one year old and parents to be living in Amsterdam.
  • When and where?
    Each month we drop a new calendar of community events just for our subscribers.
  • Can I just show up?
    While some of our events are drop in, if the event says registration required you will need to save your spot (at no extra charge). We do this so that we can ensure the group isn't too big and overwhelming.

  • Can I bring my mini?
    Unless specifically stated, all events are BYOB (bring your own baby). Please note, this is limited to babies under one year old. FYI, pram parking is limited to outdoors so be sure you can easily bring your valuables inside with you.
  • What's the difference between the weekend intensive and the regular program?
    Both are comprehensive courses designed to help expecting parents feel prepared for early parenthood, but they differ in format and content. Prepped to Parent Runs over 4 weeks, with one session each week Has an optional add on of The Birth Class Topics: Baby Medical Basics, Breastfeeding Foundations, Preparing for Postpartum & Mental Health from Pregnancy to Parenthood Weekend Intensive Condensed, two-day intensive workshop over a weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Topics: The Birth Class, Baby Medical Basics, Breastfeeding Foundations, Preparing for Postpartum & Mental Health from Pregnancy to Parenthood The Weekend Intensive version is perfect for those who prefer a focused, quick-paced experience and want to learn about birth. The standard version spreads the learning over several weeks, which might be ideal for those who prefer a more gradual approach.
  • Who is this program for?
    For pregnant English speaking couples who want to be prepared for everything after birth and make new friends along the way.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
    If you are unable to join the group for reasons beyond your control, please let us know. For cancellations up to 12 weeks before the course starts, an administration fee of € 150 will be charged (deducted from the fee paid). The remaining amount will be returned. From eight weeks to six weeks before the course starts, 50% of the course fee will be refunded. After that, the full course fee is paid for and cannot be returned.
  • Is Prepped to Parent just for expats?
    No! We have participants from all over the world, including right here in The Netherlands.
  • At what stage of pregnancy should I attend?
    The ideal time to join Prepped to Parent usually falls between the 27th and 33rd week of your pregnancy.
  • Is Prepped to Parent covered by insurance?
    Dutch health insurance typically covers a range of maternity and childbirth-related services, but coverage will depend on your specific health insurance policy. Some insurance providers offer supplementary packages (aanvullende verzekering) that cover childbirth classes, prenatal education, or parenting courses. You would need to check with individual insurance companies to see if Prepped to Parent qualifies under such supplementary packages. To confirm, contact your health insurance provider and inquire if Prepped to Parent is eligible for coverage or partial reimbursement.
  • What is The Birth Class?
    The Birth Class is the ideal choice for those preparing for birth in Amsterdam and The Netherlands. This course covers the physiology of birth, how the Dutch healthcare system works, and the various pain management options available. Designed to help expecting parents understand the birth process and navigate the local system, this class provides the knowledge and confidence needed for a positive birth experience.
  • What food will be provided during the weekend intensive?
    At the Weekend Intensive, we’ve partnered with Nourisher to provide you with wholesome, freshly made meals that are designed to support postpartum recovery, lactation, and overall nourishment.
  • Is the price for a single person or a couple?
    Each ticket is for a pregnant person and their partner. This doesn't have to be a love partner, can be a friend or birth partner.
  • What language is Prepped to parent taught in?
    Our classes are all taught in English.
  • Who are the teachers?​
