Meet your Teacher

I'm Lua Grimalt, a Clinical Psychologist with a specialization in perinatal and early childhood mental health. My main training revolves around the parent-child psychotherapy framework, where my focus has been on promoting secure, healthy, and resilient relationships between parents and their children. Throughout my practice, I primarily work therapeutically with families during pregnancy and offer support to infants and young children during their critical first three years of life.

My journey in child development and mental health was enriched further through the Infant and Parent Mental Health Scholarship at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, along with comprehensive training in parent-child therapy in both Boston and San Francisco.

My extensive experience spans perinatal mood disorders, pregnancy, childbirth, early childhood, and infant-parent mental health interventions, granting me an integrated understanding of how to optimize the resilience of these relationships through preventive measures, assessments, and continuous support.

I firmly believe that the promotion of mental health from the very beginning is crucial. I find it impactful to help parents understand their babies' subjective experiences and the significance of adapting to their ever-changing needs, promoting a capabilities-based approach rather than rushing developmental milestones.

I had the privilege of studying under esteemed experts in early childhood development, including Anna Tardos at the Pikler Institute and Brazelton and Tronick in Boston, which has shaped my practice. I'm a strong advocate for a relationship-based approach built on respect, responsiveness, and reciprocity, as it forms the foundation for an infant's early relational health and overall development.
